CBD & the Endocannabinoid System
Here at Terrestrial Roots we take pride in providing high quality cannabis medicine currently sourced from

NY Industrial Hemp.  We believe that a Full Spectrum product will provide the most relief when using Hemp

to relieve your ailments.

It’s important to note that CBD (Cannabidiol) can come from both Hemp and Marijuana plants. The Cannabis plant has

many different varieties also known as “cultivars” that have been bred for specific purposes (i.e Fibers, Psychoactive effects, traditional medicine and food) for over 200 years.

Both Hemp and Marijuana are varieties of the Cannabis Plant. The legal and recognized difference between the two varieties

is the concentrations of THC found in the plant.

Industrial Hemp must not have a concentration higher than .3% THC overall. Where as Marijuana has

percentages of up to 20% +.

Terrestrial Roots always sources CBD from Industrial Hemp grown by small local Farms on the East Coast.

What is CBD?

CBD (Cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring, non-psychoactive compound or “Phyto cannabinoid” found in the Cannabis Plant. There have been over 100 cannabinoids identified so far in the Cannabis plant. THC and CBD are two of the major cannabinoids currently researched on and used throughout the medical cannabis community.

CBD works directly with the endocannabinoid system to influence the body and bring it into homeostasis (balance). This is why CBD is such a great medicine for combatting things like stress, anxiety and mild pain. Learn more here: https://www.projectcbd.org/cbd-101/what-is-cbd-oil

The Endocannabinoid System

Endo = inside/within

Cannabinoid = Lipid based molecules that interact with the endocannabinoid system

The endocannabinoid system is a unique system of cell receptors and neurotransmitters in the body that communicate with our organs, mind and body. The ECS (endocannabinoid system) works in regulating our bodily functions and bringing into a state of balance or “homeostasis”. Research shows the ECS works in regulating fertility, pregnancy, appetite, pain sensation, mood and memory. Learn more here: https://www.projectcbd.org/science/endocannabinoid-system

Taking CBD orally or applying on skin.

CBD can be administered orally and absorbed through the mucus membrane under our tongue, or smoked for instant relief as the smoke is directly absorbed into the blood. CBD can also be applied topically on skin for pain relief and skin rejuvenation as the CBD is absorbed through our skin cells and works on specifically targeted areas. What makes a Terrestrial Roots product unique?

We are 100% grassroots, working for our community and supporting our family simultaneously. We are devoted to creating Hemp (Cannabis) Medicine made with love, care and dedication. We honor the Cannabis plant as a sacred master healing plant and work together with her to provide high quality affordable CBD products that have time and time again healed our community.

We also only work with Whole Plant Extracts. We believe in the power of using a whole plant extraction when making our formulations. A whole plant extract also known as “Full Spectrum” CBD includes all parts of the plant during extraction and does not leave out any essential cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, and THC) or Terpenes. Terpenes are the “essential oils” of the cannabis plant which have been scientifically proven to enhance the quality of the medicine. By including all the different parts of the plant in our products the user is able to experience what is known as the “entourage effect”.

The entourage effect is the idea that CBD works best when paired with THC and all of the other cannabinoids present in the plant including its terpenes. It is a synergy that happens when all of the cannabis compounds are taken together. Learn more here: https://www.healthline.com/health/the-entourage-effect
